伊万·哈罗威（1967年出生于美国加利福尼亚州惠蒂尔）是洛杉矶最具代表性和最杰出的艺术家之一。自职业生涯的开端起，他便与这座城市紧密地联系在一起，体现了一种独特的西海岸艺术历史传统。九十年代末，他从加州大学洛杉矶分校MFA课程毕业后，成为了开启加州艺术新时代的重要领军人物。当主流艺术论述已不再关注于雕塑在空间内——作为研究美学的场域——的展示时，哈罗威逐渐发展出了以动手制作为主导的雕塑实践。他强调的“模拟反革命”像是一首个人赞歌——他相信一件独立的雕塑作品，其理念可能是复杂的，但普通观众仍然可以理解它。哈罗威的作品充满了带刺的美丽，既高度个人化又极具普遍性。
