Artists for Climate Action

David Kordansky Gallery is pleased to announce the launch of its new Online Viewing Room with Artists for Climate Action, a benefit exhibition with proceeds donated to nonprofit organizations fighting the causes of climate change on both the local and national levels. The show will open online on Monday, November 18 and remain on view through Friday, December 20, 2019. Access will be available through DavidKordanskyGallery.com, and sales inquiries can be made directly through the website’s portal. 

 

Artists for Climate Action includes an exemplary array of works from artists represented by the gallery, many of which were produced especially for the exhibition. The artists featured in the gallery’s inaugural Online Viewing Room show include Kathryn Andrews, Huma Bhabha, Will Boone, Aaron Curry, Sam Gilliam, Lauren Halsey, Zach Harris, Rashid Johnson, William E. Jones, Tala Madani, Calvin Marcus, Chris Martin, Ivan Morley, Shahryar Nashat, Ruby Neri, Anthony Pearson, Torbjørn Rødland, Ricky Swallow, Tom of Finland, Lesley Vance, Michael Williams, and Jonas Wood.

Mori Art Museum and Secession Vienna

Tala Madani will open exhibitions at the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo and Secession, Vienna. The exhibitions, featuring recent paintings and animated videos, mark the artist's first museum solo shows in Japan and Austria, respectively.  

 

MAM Project 027: Tala Madani opens at the Mori Art Museum November 19, 2019, and will remain on view through March 29, 2020. The exhibition is curated by Reiko Tsubaki.

 

Shit Moms is on view at Secession November 23, 2019 through February 9, 2020. On Friday, November 22, Madani will give an exhibition talk with artist Mark Leckey at 6:00 pm, followed by an opening reception at 7:00 pm. Shit Moms will be accompanied by a forthcoming catalogue with a text by John C. Welchman.

The Highway Hex, Will Boone's first museum solo exhibition, opens at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston on November 9, 2019 and will remain on view through February 16, 2020. An opening reception will be held Friday, November 8 from 6:30 pm until 9:00 pm. Boone will give an artist talk on Saturday, November 9 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The exhibition, curated by Patricia Restrepo, features all new works in a range of media created specifically for the presentation.

Lesley Vance, a new monograph, is available now. Lesley Vance is published by Gregory R. Miller & Co. and designed by Purtill Family Business, with texts by Douglas Fogle and a conversation between Vance and Amy Sherlock. This richly illustrated book documents paintings and watercolors made by the artist over the last seven years.

 

The artist will sign copies of the book at our table, A14, at the second annual Acid-Free Los Angeles Book Market this Saturday, November 2, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Acid-Free II is hosted at Blum & Poe.

Torbjørn Rødland has been nominated for the 2019 Lorck Schive Kunstpris. Held every two years, the art prize is Norway’s biggest cultural award that honors artists working at the forefront of contemporary art. The Lorck Schive Art Prize exhibition opens on Saturday, September 21 at the Trondheim Kunstmuseum in Trondheim, Norway and features works by Rødland alongside the three additional finalists. The prize will be awarded to one of the four nominees on November 7, 2019. The exhibition will remain on view until January 19, 2020.

The biennial takes place in three locations across the city: the Istanbul Shipyard, the Pera Museum, and at a series of historic sites in Büyükada, the largest of the nine Princes’ Islands in the Sea of Marmara. The 16th Istanbul Biennial is curated by Nicolas Bourriaud.
